Myth: Introducing whole eggs and peanuts before the age of one causes allergies
Evidence now suggests that late introduction of highly allergenic foods may actually lead to more food allergies
in children. In most cases, introduction of whole eggs and peanut
butter can be introduced after six months of age. Doctors suggest the
following gradual introduction to reduce your child`s risk of a major
reaction: Place a small amount of peanut butter on their skin, if they
have no reaction, the following day you can place a small amount on
their lips. If tolerated, a small amount can be ingested the next day.
Always speak with your physician before allergenic foods are introduced.
